Recycling Books For Cash
Cash for Books
Welcome to Cash for Clothes in Barry. Although our name might suggest otherwise, we are far more than a simple clothes recycling company. We work with the local community, schools and charities to recycle and reuse household items you no longer need. This service stretches beyond just clothes, to linen, towels, curtains, computer games, DVDs, CDs and of course, books.
We are one of South Wales’ leading cash for books retailers, handling thousands of books from across Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan. We believe that no good book should go to waste; after all, one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure. So, when your old books are sitting idly in the bookshelf collecting dust, why not bring them along to our store and sell your old books for cash. Make money for items you have no longer use and give your books a second lease of life in a loving new home!
Don’t send your old books to landfill
The problem is the glue which is used to bind books means many simply cannot be recycled. Thankfully, there are plenty of alternatives, such as reselling, reusing or donating your old books, which reduces the number sent to landfill. However, there are still far too many dejected books, sitting in waste transfer stations, waiting to be sent landfill.
Landfill is a terrible abuse of our natural resources, which we are trying to combat by buying your books for cash. This is the ethical, natural solution to the growing waste epidemic in the UK, and one we really hope you are compelled to use. It might seem like rubbish to you, but there is always someone out there who will provide a loving home for your unwanted books. We resell the highest value items we receive, and donate the rest to local schools, charities and libraries.

Recycle books for cash - FAQs
Do you need a little extra cash to pay for after school clubs for the kids? Maybe the cash you receive can be put towards a great night out? Perhaps helping the local community is payment in itself? Either way, here are some of our most frequently asked questions to help you see the wood for the trees.
Are there any books that can be recycled?
Yes, some books can be recycled, as along as the spines and glue that binds the books together are removed. However, you should always bring your books to us in the best possible condition. We will pay you cash and then decide how best to process them.
How much will you pay for my old books?
If your old books are past their shelf life then we will pay cash for books based on their weight per kilo – simples!
Where will my books end up?
The books we buy are either sold online to recoup the cost of our service, shipped to bookshops across Europe where they are bought by expats and people learning English, or donated to local schools, charities and libraries. Any books we cannot use are fully recycled and pulped to be reused as packaging materials, such as cereal boxes, egg cartons and pencil barrels.
Can I just put my books in the recycling bin?
No. Books cannot be recycled in this way due to the glue that binds them together. Also, we recycle books for cash, so you’ll miss out on the money you would otherwise receive!

Our cash for books testimonials
We are delighted to have so many happy customers use our service. Here are some of the lovely things they have said:
“I am delighted with the service provided by Cash for Clothes in Barry. I recently bought an e-reader so saw this as a great chance to clear out some of my old books. I read on the website that if you have ten or more boxes of books Cash for Clothes offer to pick them up. So, I gave them a ring and arranged a collection time which was convenient for me. They arrived when agreed and paid cash for my books there and then. Overall, a fantastic service!”
Clifford, 63 from Barry
“I had loads of books in the garage I wanted to clear out. I thought about a car boot sale but couldn’t be bothered with the hassle, so instead I took them along to Cash for Clothes. Everyone I dealt with was really friendly and helpful and I’m glad all my books will end up in a deserving new home and will not be sent to landfill.”
